Republic Storage Special Application Lockers

Kids, cops, skiers and golfers all have special equipment storage needs. We’ve responded with unique designs that meet not only their needs, but other special applications as well. Naturally, these special lockers are just as durable, safe and attractive as our standard lines.

ADA Compliant Lockers 
Although the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not address lockers specifically, it does list desirable features and provide guidance for the placement of lockers within a room.

Handle
ADA guidelines state that door hardware “…shall have a shape that is easy to grasp with one hand and does not require tight grasping, tight pinching or twisting of the wrist to operate." Republic’s recessed handle complies with this requirement and can be specified for single, double, or triple tier lockers.

Shelf & Bottom Location
If the locker contains a shelf, it must be located at a height conforming to forward or parallel reach requirements so that it can be reached from a seated position. The bottom of the locker must also have a shelf located at a height conforming to parallel or forward reach requirements so that any item placed or dropped on the bottom shelf is accessible.

Placement
The locker must be located in an unobstructed position that maintains full clearance from the wall or other obstacles and allows sufficient turning radius for easy access and exit by parallel or frontal approach.

Locks
To conform to ADA guidelines, lockers specified for ADA use must employ ADA-compliant locks. Digilock ADA-compliant locks provide one-touch access by attaching a button key to the lock face. Audio/visual indicators are provided for visual, or hearing impaired users. Sport Lockers 
Tall, narrow units are ideal for seasonal rentals at resorts and in ski area hotels and condominiums. The basic locker is 84" high but with an optional sloping top can hold skis up to 225 cm. in length. Optional equipment includes slide stops to prevent skis from sliding out of open lockers, hooks for hanging poles, half shelves for hats, gloves or goggles and a stainless steel bottom.

Configured for golf clubs and other sports equipment, sport lockers suit the needs of golf club and sports club members. Shelves, partition, coat rod and hooks are standard. The lockers can be upgraded with a locking compartment, golf ball tray, towel holders, comb and brush tray and mirror. 

ABC Cubbies for Kids 
ABC Cubbies for Kids bring the colorful, durable traits of Republic lockers to young children’s environments. These open storage units are made from 16- and 18-gauge galvanneal steel to stand up to several generations of active kids. Ideal for daycare centers, pre-primary classrooms and elementary schools, they come in 25 colors and several configurations featuring shelves, divided compartments and hooks for coats or book bags. Components are designed with rounded corners and smooth edges with safety in mind. Units 12", 15" and 18" high by 15" deep and 48" high are available in riveted or welded construction.
